GWINNETT, Ga. - The Charlotte Checkers scored the final four goals to beat the Gwinnett Gladiators 6-4 in an ECHL game Monday afternoon.
Andrew Carroll continued his sizzling scoring with two goals and two assists. He scored the winning goal in a home shootout victory Sunday against Kalamazoo, and has 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in the past eight games.
Charlotte (21-13-5) erased deficits of 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2. David Marshall and Carroll scored power-play goals four minutes apartin the third period. Carroll poked in a rebound of Tyler Doig’s shot to give the Checkers a 6-4 lead. It was Carroll’s team-leading 18th goal, and his fourth winner (also a team high).
Daniel Tkaczuk’s empty-net goal with eight seconds left clinched it for Charlotte, which has won two games in a row and is on a 3-0-1 streak against Gwinnett.
Doig had a goal and two assists, and Tkaczuk and Matt Schepke had a goal and an assist apiece. Michel Leveille and Tkaczuk extended their scoring streaks to four games.
