Is it just me, or does the ECHL schedule seem whacked when the Checkers play FIVE straight games against the same team, in an 8-day span ?
Nothing against the South Carolina Stingrays - they're the ECHL's leader this season after winning the title last season. But it gets stale for the fans, and probably the players, to see the same foe in the ECHL's version of "Groundhog Day."
Anyway, Game 3 is tonight in Charlotte. Game 4 will be tomorrow in North Charleston, and Game 5 will be 2 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Arena on Sunday.
Here's some tidbits:
South Carolina Stingrays (20-6-4) at Charlotte Checkers (14-7-4)
• Tyler Doig leads the Checkers against South Carolina with nine points and seven assists in five games.
• Rookie Nikita Kashirsky leads the Stingrays against Charlotte with four goals and is tied for lead with five points.
• Charlotte defenseman T.J. Reynolds is tied for second in the ECHL with a plus-minus rating of +15.
• Stingrays have won 11 in a row, one win shy of team record 12 consecutive wins from Nov. 28-Dec. 1, 2007

In this economy, I think it's smart to save on expenses. Look at how many teams folded in just the past few years.
Now if they could just win one of the 3 games this weekend, this guy would be a happy man!
